A big part of the American media is celebrating Trump's defeat, and are very happy to show it.
U.S. Senator Ted Cruz has defeated Donald Trump in Iowa's Republican nominating contest on Monday, upending the party's presidential race and creating a three-way competition with establishment candidate Senator Marco Rubio.
On the Democratic side, officials said former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton had won by a razor-thin margin against U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, the closest in Iowa Democratic caucus history.
In a response so Cruz’s victory over Trump, The New York Daily News depicted the Manhattan billionaire as a clown under the headline, "Dead clown walking." When Trump launched his campaign last June, the Daily News had similarly painted him as a clown.
The paper also wrote that Trump sounded "like a beaten man" in what it called his "morose" concession speech Monday night.
Meanwhile, The New York Post has been far less critical of Trump. The tabloid chose to focus its headline — "CRUZ-IFIED" — on Cruz, who won Iowa despite polls predicting he would lose to Trump in the state's caucuses.
Marco Rubio a U.S. senator from Florida, also enjoyed on the expense of Trump’s defeat. The Florida lawmaker established himself as the mainstream alternative to the two front-running rivals.
“Rubio has staying power. He weathered $30 million in negative ads and late deciders broke his way due to his upbeat and optimistic close,” said Republican strategist Scott Reed.
