Rules of the weekend, that can help traders ne more successful next week.
As the end of the trading week has finally come I thought that I will plunge into the weekend hype a little bit earlier.
As traders we need to understand that relaxing on the weekend is pretty much the only time that we can truly let go and relax, not thinking about trading. Yes, forex market is open around the clock, but there are not so many traders who chose to spend their weekend in front of the computer.
So, I decided that we truly need to look into what are the DOs and DON’Ts of the weekend. All for being more productive the next week, right J ?
1. DO NOT stop following the news.
2. DO NOT bury yourself in the news.
3. DO NOT trade unless you want to.
4. DO NOT stop educating yourself.
5. DO spend time with your family.
6. DO relax.
7. DO sleep in.
1. DO NOT stop following the news.
Of course, being tired of trading is natural. And being tired of the news is even more natural. We stop seeing the good in the world – only that what was shown on the news. And yes, we need to stop following the latest updates from time to time, but the thing is that the updates may contain crucial information for your trading next week. And you need to be prepared for whatever comes. So follow the news over the weekend.
2. DO NOT bury yourself in the news.
That being said, when I say look into the news, I mean read a digest once in the evening. Do not waste your free time on reading everything and updating the page every 15 minutes – that is just not productive. You will neither rest, nor make any decisions.
3. DO NOT trade unless you want to.
Weekend is the time for being away from your every-day routine. And sitting down for trading just because that is what you do every day is not going to be extremely good and productive for you. if anything, you are going to accumulate even more irritation and fatigue and are not going to be all ready for the new week.
But, if you are feeling the urge and the energy for trading, or just feeling lucky and ‘like it’, then by all means, you are welcome to the forex market.
4. DO NOT stop educating yourself.
Remember that book about trading that is just sitting there on your night stand and that you read before going to sleep. Yeah. Read it. Education is an important part of the process and there is now need for it to stop over the weekend. After all the book is only going to help you sleep better.
5. DO spend time with your family.
That one is obvious, isn’t it? Take your kids to the park, tell you wife about your successes over the week and enjoy a family breakfast. Take family time to the fullest and relax with your closest people.
6. DO relax.
Oh yeah. We all could use some relaxing massage, a good movie, a glass of wine over the dinner – all of that is just a part of the weekend routine, granted, but it is so different from what we do every single day that we simply need it.
7. DO sleep in.
Just admit – you are not getting even close to that amount of sleep that a human needs in order to functions properly. I knew it! I am just the same! And we can all agree that sleeping in is one of the best features that we can do on the weekend. Just sleeping and lying in the bed two days in a row – allow yourself to do that. Maybe have breakfast in bed. Forget about trading stress. Enjoy.
Of course there are much more what you can do over the weekend in order to relax. What do you usually do in order to get rid of trading stress? Tell me in the comments!
