When we hear the words – rich person, we immediately imagine extravagant homes and rich vacations with the Queen of England. Well, maybe not with her, but still. But that is not always the case. A lot of extremely rich people live their lives much more modest than we would dare to imagine.
Here are the few example of the richest people who prefer to live life simple.
1. Warren Buffett.
2. Chuck Feeney.
3. David Cheriton.
4. David Green.
5. Carlos Slim.
6. Jim C. Walton.
7. Ingvar Kamprad.
1. Warren Buffett.
Warren Buffet is the richest trader and the third richest man alive at the moment. His estimate net worth adds up to $73 billion. But did you know that he gives a huge percentage of his earnings up for charity? He is also still living in the house he bought 50 years ago for only $30.000 (see into picture). His second wedding was surprisingly modest. And even though he could afford anything, it was an affair simpler than that of a lot of us – simple folk.
2. Chuck Feeney.
Founder of one of the largest philanthropist organization ever has got to be very rich, right? Well, yes. Feeney’s net worth added up to $7.5 billion, but right now Chuck lives with only $2 million. Why? He decided to only leave himself enough money to be comfortable and give the rest for charity. He himself said that his goal in life was to work hard, not to be rich. And that motto he lives by.
3. David Cheriton.
What do you expect when you hear the words co-founder of Google and university professor in Stanford? Money. Lots and lots of it, right? Well, yes. $2.8 billion net worth is quite an amount. But still David lives in the house he bought 30 years ago and even cuts his own hair.
4. David Green.
A founder and CEO of Hobby Lobby – quite a famous company, David Green doesn’t even think of abusing his fortune. He never flies first class when he travels internationally and gives a big chunk of his bank account to charity. His charitably donations to religious organizations exceeds $500 million at the moment. And the number is only getting bigger from here.
5. Carlos Slim.
With Jeff Bezos in the scene he doesn’t even stand a chance in the title of the richest man alive, but Slim has a potential to make Bill Gates and Buffett scoot over from their positions on the list. Despite his enormous bank account of $70 billion Carlos still drives himself to work from his 6-bedroom house that he has been living in for the last several decades.
6. Jim C. Walton.
Who knew that the CEO of Walmart runs family business out of a simple office building and is overall a very frugal man? Well, the fact that he made this list is a proof for that.
7. Ingvar Kamprad.
Kamprad is known for his habits of not living according to his means. He always flies economy class and drives his old Volvo around, although a new car and a private jet would be the purchase that he with his $3 billion net worth isn’t even going to notice. His furniture comes from Ikea which is understandable – the man is founder of the company.
These are the simple lives of the richest people alive.
